That’s an interesting question I was asked by @novellia.ms

because the reality is,

I’d spent most of my time running from that fact.

🧡

When people find out I have MS,
they always give me sad puppy dog eyes,
or tell me how sorry they are for me.

Disjointed.
Almost unaware that I am standing here,
a real human being.
Who perhaps does not WANT to feel sorry for her own life.
OR want anyone else to feel sorry for her either.

Peoples’ assumptions of MS,
that it’s this big scary disabling disease
& that I’m going to be a bed vegetable tomorrow
and my husband will have to push me around in a wheel chair
are pretty stereotypical.

And I do not fault people for that at all....

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐈 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐮𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐢𝐭.

I can refuse to be remembered for those things,
that while possible- are also not truths for everyone.
𝙉𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘔𝘚.
